Queensland Long Distance Air Services

Meeke Consulting was engaged with another consultant to provide aviation advice to the Tender Evaluation Panel at TransLink (a division of the Queensland Department of Transport) regarding the 2014 tenders for long distance air services throughout regional Queensland.

Our work involved a detailed evaluation of the technical aspects of the various bids (aircraft types, payload-range performance and operational capability) but it also looked at the dynamics of each port, route and network to ensure the current and future demands of the communities would be adequately served by the various proposals.

Many of the ports experience high summer temperatures and the capability of each tendered aircraft type had to be measured against this and the other limiting factors such as availability of fuel and peak passenger demand.

The contracted services were successfully implemented in January 2015.
